Justine Kinney

Justine Kinney is a 24 year old 400 metre hurdler.

Originally competing in the 800m, she moved to the 400m hurdles at the age of 17. She won English Schools Championships in 2006 (59.7), and won a Sports Scholarship to Loughborough University, where she studied psychology. Here, she won numerous medals for the BUCS and national competitions.

She ran the hurdles in 57.13 seconds in order to qualify for the European Championships in 2010 representing Ireland.

Despite injuries plaguing her 2011 series, she has continued her training, and won the first race ever at the brand new Olympic stadium, with the Showcase on 4th May as they hosted the British Universities and Colleges Sports Championships, running the 400m hurdles in 59.79 seconds.

She is being considered for the 4 x 400m races in this year’s Olympics. She is also looking to compete in the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki at the end of June, and then the World Universities next year.
