Liam Davie

Liam Davie is widely recognised for his achievement in the 2014 commonwealth games in Glasgow earning silver for Team Scotland!. Liam is cemented in Scottish history as winning their first ever Commonwealth Games team gymnastics medal.

Liam 21, from Cambroe Lanarkshire started gymnastics when he was 10 years old at his local club which his older sister also attended. He enjoyed going along after school and didn’t take it too seriously at first, meeting up with his friends there and attempting backflips!

He kept at it and he first realised that he had progressed from having fun with his friends to professional level in 2009 when he came 3rd on high bar under 16s category at the British championships.

He started to take gymnastics more seriously and after a lot of hard work training 4 nights a week for 4 hours a day, Liam went from strength to strength and soon had a string of titles under his belt!

2009 -  3rd place - high bar -  under 16s Championships

2011 -  1st place - high bar  - British championships under18s

2011 - 4th on the high bar - 5th on the rings - Northern European Championship  senior category

2012 - 5th on floor - 6th on the parallel bars - 2nd on the high bar -  Northern European Championships

2013 - 1st on floor -  1st rings - 1st on the high bar -  2nd on parallel bar

2013 - 5th place - floor - 1st on high bar - Northern Europeans as a team Scotland

2014 - Silver medallist - Commonwealth games Glasgow - becoming the first ever team in history to get a team medal!

Liam is looking forward to getting back to training once his recent shoulder injury has heeled and is hoping to compete in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games!
