How I Started
When I was seven, I visited the local Curling club and got started with my dad and brother. I spent four years Curling at that club as I competed regionally in Edinburgh before moving onto the national stage with Gogar Park Curling Club. We won the Scottish under 17’s national championship at the age of 17 and then moved to the Scottish national team at 19.
My Greatest Achievement
My greatest achievement is winning a silver medal at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Grant, Bobby, Hammy, Ross and I formed a team five years ago intending to reach the Olympics and medalling. Over that time we won three national titles and five Grand Slams to reach world number one in January of 2022.
My Greatest Challenge
The greatest challenge I have faced in Curling is coming out in my sport, as an elite athlete, a lot of people don’t talk about it publicly, so It was a massive challenge to put myself out there, but in the end, I was glad I decided as everyone was incredibly supportive and accepting of me which ultimately made the decision worth it! To overcome it and show my pride I wore rainbow laces for the entirety of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics which was massively empowering!
My Hobbies
Outside of Curling, I love climbing, being outdoors, and walking in the Scottish Highlands along with other sports like Golf, Tennis and Badminton! My favourite foods are Sushi and pizza!
My Future goals
Coming so close to the Olympic gold was great but has now given me a taste of hopefully what’s to come, and I hope that my team and I can have more success in the future as we look to medalling gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics being held in Milan.
