How I Started
As a child I played every sport possible, the first time I had seen a group of girls playing football I was walking out of Jiu Jitsu and spotted a local grassroots team training, so I went and had a go but quickly found out that the girls’ team had no league to play in against other teams. So I joined the local boys’ team in order to play within a league. When the opportunity to trial for Liverpool’s academy came up I took it with open arms. I passed the trial and stayed with Liverpool until the age of 12! After that I transferred to Everton and captained each age group all the way up until the first team.
My Greatest Achievement
My greatest achievement was signing my first professional contract with Everton on my 18th birthday. This meant that I was now full time and I had to pivot my focus as I was juggling a lot of different interests at the time from training with Everton, to my university studies, and my football coaching business. This was a nice transition because I went from feeling tired all the time between all of these commitments to having the free time I needed to properly recover and prepare for what I had coming up in the week!
My Greatest Challenge
My greatest challenge was losing my brother at the age of 10. This took me away from the love of the game for a period of time as I was consumed by what had happened. I ended up moving from the Liverpool academy back the grassroots girls’ team while I built myself up during this time and still feel that I only really processed the grief a few years later once I was in high school.
My Hobbies
Outside of football I enjoy going to the spa to wind down, and visiting coffee shops around the city! I also love travelling and listening to music, I used to play the drums and guitar as a child although I’m not sure how well these skills would work now!
My Future Goals
In the future I aim to play for England’s senior team, continue travelling with my job at some point, and to break the stigma surrounding mental health in sport.
