I am from Birmingham and am currently coached by Linford Christie at Brunel University. I train seven days a week for between three to four hours a day. I started athletics at about age twelve and started training twice a week with a distance running group until I saw the sprinters. I joined a sprint group and from there I went to training six days a week three to four hours a day! It took me almost eight years to make my first international team (European under 23s 2009).
In 2010 I made my first senior international, the World Indoor Championships in Doha and after this I decided to make a big move from Birmingham to London to train with Linford. This is where I really started to perform. In 2011 I won gold and silver at the European Under23s. In 2012 I became an Olympian, a childhood dream come true, and in 2014 myself and the person running 4x400m came second in the world to win silver in the World Indoor Championships in Poland!!!
However, in 2013 I sustained a stress fracture in my back (L5), which I returned from but in 2014 I pulled both my hamstrings, then again in 2015-2016. I made a full recovery in 2017 but I was starting from scratch. 2018 started so well but I pulled my adductor early in the season. Now I am healthy, wiser and looking forward to what the future holds! My aims for the coming season are to compete at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow 2019 and the World Outdoor Championships in Doha 2019 where it all started.
The children had all had an excellent day I think they have been inspired by Luke! It was great how every child was involved in the circuit; even if they were unable to complete the physical part, they were cheering their friends on. There have been comments about showing siblings what they've been doing at home. The whole process from booking was clear and efficient. Event Date - 16/01/2019 Laura from Totternhoe Lower School
