Bio
How I Started:
I first learned to swim purely for safety, and it quickly became clear that I had a natural ability in the water. I was noticed early on and encouraged to join a club, even though I wasn’t initially sure I wanted to be a swimmer—mostly because I hated the idea of early mornings.
I actually began swimming with the hope of getting into diving, since my sister was already involved in the sport, but swimming gradually became my main focus as I realised how much potential and enjoyment I had in it.
My Greatest Achievement:
One of my proudest achievements is reaching the Olympic semi-final. It was an incredibly emotional experience because I had caught COVID just before the main event, which made the lead-up very challenging. Despite that, I finished 9th overall—an accomplishment I’m proud of, even if it was bittersweet knowing how close I was to the final.
My Greatest Challenge:
My biggest ongoing challenge has been dealing with a shoulder injury that has lasted two and a half years. It’s been a constant process of problem-solving, adjusting training, and trying to understand an injury that still isn’t fully diagnosed. It has tested my resilience, patience, and determination—but it has also made me a stronger athlete.
My Hobbies:
Outside the pool, I love all things creative. Art and painting are huge passions of mine, and I’ve completed two undergraduate degrees. I’m also a qualified nail technician. Recently, I added a new kind of joy to my life—a dog named Otso, which means “bear” in Finnish.
My Future Aspirations:
Looking ahead, my goal is to compete at the LA 2028 Olympics and continue progressing on the international stage. I’m determined to keep improving, keep learning, and win more international medals along the way.
