How I Started:
I started track and field through my mum who pushed me to do a lot of sports as a child. I had played football growing up, and then gave track and field a try because I was very quick in PE, so my teachers told my mum to take me to a local athletics club! After the first session I wasn’t keen and wanted to continue playing Football because I had a trial with Chelsea. About three years later my mum didn’t give me the choice and took me down to the track, and from then on I continued sprinting and began to enjoy the sport and build a passion.
My Greatest Achievement:
My greatest achievement is running a 10.05 second personal best along with a lot of the medals I have earned throughout my career, the most special medals I have won are my U23 English Championships bronze medalist, two-time Senior English Championships bronze medalist, South England Indoor Championships 60m champion, Middlesex Indoor Championships 60m champion. I am proud of these achievements, and am looking to win more and break the 10 second barrier along with qualifying for the GB team coming into the new year and start of the indoor season.
My Greatest Challenge:
My greatest challenge was an attempted dislocation of the knee, this happened while I was training and my foot got stuck into the track with my spikes. I fell and the knee tried to dislocate, but didn’t. I was diagnosed and then began the recovery process, but this was clouded with more issues that slowed my progress down a lot. Overall this took three years to get over fully, this was in 2014, and because of my coach I still managed to run a new personal best but the extending complications of this injury kept coming back and hurt the following seasons too.
My Hobbies:
Outside of Sprinting I still play Football, and I also enjoy Boxing. I have a collection of Boxing documentaries at my house that I like to watch along with an extensive knowledge of the sport! In addition to this I like to prioritise spending time with friends and family too as I don’t have too much time outside of training and competing to see them.
My Future Aspirations:
In the future I hope to improve my personal best and break the sub 10 second barrier, and qualify for the GB team along with the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, and World Indoor Championships in China too! I also want to inspire the youth to look for and take up a sport to show the valuable lessons that being an athlete has taught me, and as an alternative to any other routes that they could take.
