Bio
How I started:
I’ve been running and competing since I was in Primary school. I represented the school up to county level through primary and high school, I felt like a talented cross-country runner! I also loved Football, and still do to this day! The mental resilience and the mindset needed to continue on these adventures is huge, and that’s what I have been honing throughout the majority of my life! I fell out of love with running a lot, but around the age of thirty I met a man called Tim Davis who began coaching me and taught me how to perfect my technique and strive for larger distances! I ran my first Marathon when I was forty, and that was quickly followed by even longer races like 50k, 50 miles, then 100k, and then I jumped right up to 177 when I raised £21000 for a charity called CALM.
My Greatest Achievement:
My greatest achievement is setting the FKT (Fastest-known time) running around the entire country of Wales which was 870 miles for the first phase, and then completing Offas Dyke which made the run 1059 miles total. This took me 22 days and was filmed as a documentary! I was burning 8-10000 calories a day, and then having to eat to maintain my energy too.
My Greatest Challenge:
My greatest challenge has been tendinitis which has now evolved into full-blown Tendonopathy which means I cannot run at the moment. I have seen a consultant who has said it will take 6-12months to heal it. I have tears in my quadriceps tendon. Right now I am focussing on a 100 mile run in Chester, and I was hoping to attempt the Wales coast path again to beat my own time, but it doesn’t look like it’s on the cards due to this! The recovery is filled with a lot of gym work, heavy squatting, shockwave therapy, and a lot of time and rest!
My Hobbies:
When I’m not running you can usually find me at the Gym training, taking my kids to their football/rugby training or cheering them on at their matches, mentoring young people, I am also a PT and a running coach!
My Future Aspirations:
In the future I am looking forward to completing two 100 mile races in May and September, I am also looking to refine my 100 mile strategy. I’d also like to go back and break my own record around Wales. I would also like to set off one day and see how far I can run without stopping!
