Bio
How I Started:
As a child I was naturally very sporty and I tried a lot of different sports before I gave Boxing a go. I started Boxing when I was eight years old with Kickboxing, and then realised that my strong suit wasn’t in the kicking aspect, but the movement and the hands. I moved to train in Boxing at the Maelor Boxing Club, it was a strange environment to start off with, but I got used to the noise and my peers quickly, and I had my first fight when I was ten years old and continued competing up until where I am today competing internationally around the world representing Wales!
My Greatest Achievement:
My greatest achievement has been five time Welsh champion, winning the Welsh Championships at schoolboy, junior, youth, and senior level! I have also won multiple international medals for my country, in the Romanian Moldovian Belt Tournament, in Lithuania at the Sockias Tournament, and multiple other national and international medals. As a schoolboy going into the Welsh Championships it was my seventh fight and I felt really nervous as I didn’t have a lot of belief in myself being a very small person in stature, but then the winning feeling was the thing that boosted my confidence and really got me to where I am today.
My Greatest Challenge:
My greatest challenge is the injury I am currently dealing with! At the moment I am dealing with a slipped disc which happened at the Romanian Moldovian Belt Tournament. I remember in a fight I threw a shot and I overreached with a left hook and can recall feeling a lot of pain during the fight but it was mostly masked by the adrenaline that you feel in the ring. Once I got out of the ring, after winning, I realised that things weren’t right and it has since took me out of training and reduced my training hours down to zero, so not only filling the time that I have, but it’s a tough challenge as I have been doing the same thing every week since I was eight years old so the loss of routine is biggest for me.
My Hobbies:
Outside of Boxing I enjoy spending my time with friends, but mostly you can find me resting and recovering for fights and training, and on my PlayStation playing games. Either way, it’s a lot of resting and recovering whenever I’m out of training!
My Future Aspirations:
In the future I want to medal in the European Championships, along with getting onto Team GB and competing in the Commonwealth Games. If all of this goes to plan then hopefully in the next five years or so I would be looking at turning over to the professional scene and securing a contract.
