Bio
How I started
I was born in Scotland on October 15th 1984, and began to participate in athletics as my parents were both PE teacher’s and massively into keeping fit! They kept me on my toes from a young age and knew exactly how to challenge me. Through them, I picked up on athletics and began to develop my talents sprinting until one day I realised that I could jump really, really high! So I started training for High Jump at a local club!
My greatest challenge
My greatest challenge was not being selected for the Commonwealth Games. It has always been my dream to compete at some of the highest levels in the sporting world, and I knew I could do it. So to be left out of a tournament that only happens every four years! Initially, I was devastated when I wasn’t selected, but it also motivated me, it lit a fire under me, and I was ready to work as hard as possible to get there. So, I worked and worked and worked; until one day, after a tournament, I was told that I had earned myself a place. I was ecstatic, and it was a dream come true! To be competing in front of the world representing my home country was everything I had ever wanted.
My hobbies
In my free time, I love climbing, walking and photography. Being in the great outdoors is something I have always loved ever since I was a child, and II love going out walking with my camera to take some shots of the gorgeous landscapes. My favourite meal is curry, especially on a Friday! And my favourite food is a freshly ripe Mango, especially paired with other fruits, it’s perfect!
My goals
In future, I would love to compete internationally and nationally for Scotland again at the next Commonwealth Games. I would also love to continue competing and loving my sport!
