Bio
How I Started:
I started Gymnastics because my dad was a Gymnast when he was younger, he then got my sister to join a club, and then I followed because I was very energetic and bouncy as a child. I joined the same club as my sister which was Bury Gymnastics Club. I initially started with normal classes, and then moved up into the more advanced training classes before joining the coach who I am still currently training with now!
My Greatest Achievement:
My greatest achievement was achieving two bronze medals in the 2022 Junior European Championships in Munich. It was my first European championships, and I was quite nervous on the day. Because I was competing in the all-around discipline, which means that I am scoring in six different routines across rings, floor, pommel, vault, high bar, and parallel bars. I had competed in some of the lower scoring events first, meaning I couldn’t see my name on the leaderboard, but after vaulting I found myself second in the finals. As a team we were all focussed on the team outcome and medalling for GB so to be on the podium in the individual finals was almost a shock!
My Greatest Challenge:
My greatest challenge was the stretch of time after lockdown. I came very close to quitting because I had lost a lot of the strength that I had built-up before the lockdown, which lead to me wanting to quit the sport entirely. I ended up speaking to my dad, and he told me to keep going for three months, work to get my strength back, and then assess what I wanted to do. At the end of those three months I had gained a lot of my strength and muscle-memory back, and wanted to continue gaining momentum into the 2021 season.
My Hobbies:
Outside of Gymnastics I enjoy spending time with friends and family, or resting to be ready for competitions and training to ensure I can perform at my best!
My Future Aspirations:
In the future I am looking to be selected for the 2025 Senior European Championships, where I would be looking to earn a medal on the Pommel Horse. Following that I’d like to qualify for the Senior World Championships in 2026, which should set me up for being selected for the 2028 Summer Olympics!
