How I Started:
I started Skateboarding when I was 8 years old. A lot of my friends were Skating, and I thought it looked like a lot of fun because we had also been playing the Tony Hawk video games on the Playstation 1, and I wanted to try something that I could progress in individually and take some risks too! My friends and I started Skating a lot around the streets near our houses and going to the local skatepark.
My Greatest Achievement:
My greatest achievement to date is getting my own pro model Deck with a company I was Skating for which was sold around the world. This started when I was picked up by a company in 2015. I had only been Skating Freestyle again for a year or two at this point, but I was working extremely hard to compete at the highest level, and I wasn’t necessarily being successful at that, but because I had a unique style and trick selection they wanted to turn me pro. When that opportunity came around they also gave me the board, so I contacted the designer and we worked to create the graphic on the underside.
My Greatest Challenge:
My greatest challenge was learning how to overcome competition nerves. I had always had issues with my anxiety, and when I went up for my first contest I only managed to land a single trick meaning I placed dead last. I kept working because I desperately did want to compete at the highest level, and for a lot of years I competed badly when in 2022 I finally took a podium spot, and from then on I have had the confidence and my nerves have almost disappeared too!
My Hobbies:
Outside of Skateboarding I enjoy making art and music along with fossil hunting! I go fossil hunting a lot and I have been interested by it since I was a kid You’ll usually find me travelling to places like Whitby to hunt on the beach!
My Future Aspirations:
In the future I want to win a world championship, which I am currently working towards! I came third last year, and I am hoping to better that result this year. Once I win a world championship I think I will retire from competing, but I would still like to be present and skate as much as I can so I would consider becoming a judge at competitions and arranging a lot of skate events too!
