How I Started:
I started at age 10 when my dad took me down to the local athletics track. At this time I was trying a lot of different sports, this was one of the first sports I had tried, and because I was quite fast for my age I decided to stick with it. I competed for the first time in the club competition, but began taking the sport seriously at the age of 17. The first step was training hard for competitions that came more and more regularly from then on out.
My Greatest Achievement:
My greatest achievement was winning the National England 100m title with a time of 10.4s. Heading into the competition I was confident in my ability but was worried about the weather. On the day it was very windy with a little bit of rain which made competing quite uncomfortable for everyone!
My Greatest Challenge:
My greatest challenge has been overcoming injuries and staying healthy for competitions. I’ve experienced a lot of small injuries that have hindered my training meaning I can’t train at full capacity for a bit while I recover. I was out for three months performing a lot of band work and light weight exercises to nurse the muscle back to health.
My Hobbies:
Outside of athletics I enjoy spending time with friends, going out for food, watching movies, and generally relax when I’m not training. Even outside of my sport I am passionate about eating healthy and keeping my body strong.
My Future Aspirations:
In the future I hope to break the ten second barrier in the 100m sprint, along with qualifying for Team GB at the World Championships in Tokyo next year. I need to continue working on my strength and rest as I work full time alongside my training, so optimising my rest periods is really important for my training and strength.
