Bio
How I Started:
Both of my parents played Hockey so I was playing as soon as I could hold the stick. My dad was an umpire, and I spent the majority of my weekends as a child down the side of a pitch watching my parents play! I was shown the Olympics at the age of eight and instantly wanted to represent Team GB on that same stage.
My Greatest Achievement:
My greatest achievement has been representing Team GB at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics. I am also very proud of captaining Team GB and England. In every squad there are between 30 and 35 players, but only 16 get the opportunity to go to the Olympics. The coaches look for a lot of different qualities in an Olympic-level Hockey player such as being a great team player, resilience, a great work ethic, and the desire to win and become a champion!
My Greatest Challenge:
My greatest challenge was not making the Rio Olympics selection. This having been something that I had always dreamed of, but this time it wasn’t meant to be unfortunately. Having been selected for two Olympic Games since then, I think this was down to not being myself and not believing that I was good enough. In the run up to the Olympics when selections were on I felt like I wasn’t putting myself out there enough to make a strong case for why I should be in that squad. This experience freed me up because in the run up to the Tokyo 2020 I knew what not being selected felt like, how I could rebound from it, and most importantly it released me to play up to my full potential.
My Hobbies:
Outside of Hockey you can find me spending time with my family and playing with my two children, I run a coffee company with my teammates too as we are all coffee snobs. Alongside all of this I really enjoy playing Golf!
My Future Aspirations:
In the future I hope to win medals at the World Cup, the European Championship and the Olympics. I also hope to continue to enjoy the journey and make the most out of the experiences that I get to have.
