Bio
How I Started:
My mum was a gymnast, although not at a high level; it was a childhood sport for her. She took me to an all-girls gymnastics club in a church hall. Later, I went to another class at a school. The teacher there saw potential in me and suggested I join another club with better facilities and coaching. I did, went to nationals, and was selected for the national team.
My Greatest Achievement:
Becoming the British champion in 2023 was an amazing experience. It was my first taste of victory, which boosted my confidence immensely going forward.
My Greatest Challenge:
The mental side of the sport is my greatest challenge. When things go wrong after putting so much work in, it can feel like you get nothing in return. There was a difficult period when I was also injured, which made the situation even worse. I tore my right shoulder in two places. I didn’t want to undergo surgery and instead chose physiotherapy and rehabilitation, which takes a significant toll on your body.
My Hobbies:
I love to surf. My whole family surfs, and growing up in Devon meant I was always on the beach! Skateboarding was something I loved to do, but I had to stop when I turned 16 due to the high risk of injuries. I also love coffee – making it, drinking it, and trying new coffee shops around my area. My favourite coffee is a flat white: short and sweet!
My Future Aspirations:
The Commonwealth Games in 2026 is a major aspiration. Another home games, with the opportunity for family and friends to attend, is something that doesn’t happen often, and competing for England would be a huge honour! The LA Olympics in 2028 is another goal. Competing on the biggest stage and having my family name in the history books would be a very proud moment for me.
