How I Started:
I started gymnastics at ‘Tumble Tots’ from the age of 2 to 5. Finding that easy, my mum then took me to the local gymnastics club. After training in the recreational class, one of the performance pathway coaches noticed I stood out and asked if I would trial with the men’s performance team. I followed that pathway from age 6 until now, at 20, all at the same club. I’ve gone from a kid who enjoyed gymnastics to an elite gymnast!
My Greatest Achievement:
My greatest achievement is winning a Northern European bronze medal on vault in Finland in 2022. I was a last-minute call-up, so achieving a medal with only around a week to prepare was a fantastic outcome and something I am very proud of. Going through qualification in second place to reach the final and then medalling was not something I thought possible for that event.
My Greatest Challenge:
My greatest challenge is my current injury: multi-ligament damage in my knee, specifically the MCL and ACL. I was told the recovery would take at least 12 months, and I am currently around 6 months into what has been a pretty intense rehabilitation process. It has been very mentally challenging, particularly in the first 3 to 6 months. The uncertainty surrounding my recovery made the process even tougher.
My Hobbies:
I love simply getting out of the house, as I am constantly indoors due to my sport. Socialising with friends, both within and outside of gymnastics, is a great way for me to relax and enjoy my free time. I also enjoy participating in other sports and travelling to new places to experience different cultures.
My Future Aspirations:
My dream is, of course, the 2028 Olympics and beyond. My main aim is to elevate myself and my gymnastics to the highest possible standard I can achieve. This includes making a successful recovery from my injury and continuing the progress I was making beforehand, with the goal of being selected for and competing in more international competitions, hopefully leading to major championships in the future.
