Bio
How I Started
I started Beach Volleyball in 2008 when Team GB began a nationwide search for new athletes in time for the London 2012 Olympic Games. A UK Sport talent identification program called ‘Sporting Giants’ began when I was 18 in my final year of school. I tried beach volleyball for the first time through the Sporting Giants trials and was 1 of 4000 initial applicants selected to join the Team GB development program at the University of Bath.
My Greatest Achievement
Representing and competing for Team England at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games was a career highlight. 8 international medals and 5 times British Champion.
My Greatest Challenge
My greatest challenge was traversing different injuries and undergoing heart surgery. I have had a lot of run-ins with injuries throughout my career, for instance, I have dislocated my elbow and suffered a broken ankle. After dislocating my elbow I was told I would never be able to play again as my arm wouldn’t be able to extend properly in order to pass the ball to teammates. The recovery was extremely long as I spent six weeks in a cast, and then a further six weeks in rehabilitation.
My Hobbies
Outside of Beach Volleyball, I love coaching and teaching Beach Volleyball, travelling, and I have recently begun playing Pickleball!
My Future goals
In the future, I am looking forward to starting my own Pickleball club as I continue coaching beach volleyball and travelling the world. I am also looking to start my own business too!
